A two day International Conference on“Going Global: UNLEASHING PEOPLE POTENTIAL” in the context of Decennial Celebrations of PG Department of Human Resource Management (HRM) was inaugurated on 19th January, 2007 at Dental College  A/C Auditorium in GITAM, presided by Dr M V V S Murthi, President of GITAM Society.

Dr Murthi, expressed his Greetings and wishes to the PG Department of HRM on the successful completion of a decadal service to the society.  He pointed out the increasing importance of HR role in the organization and opportunities in this field.  He also expressed that the responsibility of the college is also increasing in supplying the qualitative Human Resources required by the firms and industry. He also stressed on the point that the college has to go miles to reach the Global Level and for that there are no shortcuts and Knowledge Resourcing and Generating Knowledge are the two ways through which the college can reach that level. He released the placement profile of College of Management Studies, GITAM.

Dr. T.V Rao, Chairman, TVRLS Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad was the Chief Guest of the function and he released the Volume of Doctoral Research in Indian University. He addressed the gathering and appreciated the PG Department of HRM for Decennial Celebrations. He spoke about the Qualities of a world class organization and to develop those qualities you require qualities of Global Managers like Vision driven, focused, domain competent, versatile and so on.

Mr. K.C Jamestin, Chief-Human Resource Department, ONGC was participated as Guest of Honour and released the Souvenir, in his message he congratulated the PG Department of HRM to achieve the grate mile stone. He said that the Public Sector Industries also realized the importance of HR role and ONGC also providing good number of opportunities for the youngster in the HRD. He advised the students to come up with knowledge and hard work industry in satisfying the needs of industry. And he also emphasized that Global Opportunities are opening the doors for the HR Professionals with a good number of challenging jobs. He said that HR Profession is a very holistic job dealing with different set of brains.

Prof. Angus Laing, Head, University of Glasgow Business School and Department of Management, Glasgow, UK was attended the function as one of the Guests of Honour. He released the GITAM Journal of Management it was the first quarterly magazine. He appreciated that the Human Resource Educational System in India and explained the coming Global changes and developments in the Human Resource Management   Education.

In this occasion Prof. M.Gangadhara Rao, Director, College of Management Studies, GITAM participated and spoke about the developments in the PG Department of Human Resource Management since 1996.

Dr. Raghaviah, Convener and Head of the PG Dept. of Human Resource Management explained about the arrangements made for the function and emphasized the importance of International Seminar conducted by the college. Mr. Vijay S. Kumar, Joint Convenor was also present.

Prof. Sivaramkrishna, Principal of the MBA Programme advanced his Vote of Thanks.
